17 weeks

hello baby!

sitting at the doctors waiting for my ultrasound was TORTURE! I was so so so nervous and scared and ugh.
sooo the doctor comes in. has me lay down and gets right to work checking out all the markers for you. they ALLL looked normal! now this doesn't completely expel any chance that you have anything wrong but its enough to put my mind at ease.
I cant believe how much you grew since we last saw you a few weeks ago... wait that was 5 weeks! I guess I sort of can believe it...  I mean you LOOK like a baby now!

sooooo DRUM roll please. because I know everyone else is DYING to know what you are just like we were!

are you as surprised as we were?!
I would totally show you what we saw but I don't want him to kill me one day for displaying his man junk all over the inter web.
but he was NOT shy! he had his legs spread wide open for us to see and let me just say... there was NO question about it.
she didn't tell us how big you were in inches but she did let us know your 6 oz now. I have only gained 8 lbs this WHOLE time! its crazy to me that that's all it is because I'm growing so big now.
the best part?! Daddy picked your name!

okay so back to my regular weekly baby journal post!

Symptoms: fatigue, swelling in the feet and hands
I could be on my feet too much possibly.... but there's also the heat! its been in the upper 80's for a few days.
cravings: fried pickles thanks to my Father in Law for putting that in my head...
Cheese burgers, fries

love mom

16 weeks

such a scary week
cravings: BBQ like crazy I want messy smokey yummy BBQ
cereal

symptoms: may have felt you move! i thought I did last week with some little thumps but yesterday I felt this odd wave....
back sleeping? NO MORE! which is not good.... I've been having trouble with it. I wake up int he middle of the night on my back, roll over and tell you I'm sorry lol

OKAY.... so Tuesday I had blood work done. for a quad screening test. they do during 16 weeks.
Friday my doctor called me with the results and they are abnormal. this means that we are at an elevated risk for you having down syndrome. it means the protein levels in my blood are elevated enough that we are a 1 in 200 chance that you have Downs. so they obviously want to do more testing to see whats going on....
that's only .005% chance you have it. yes on Friday I was FREAKING out crying and reading every possible thing I could about it but I'm more calm now. and then Friday afternoon the doctor called to set up an appointment so we can see whats going on.. it just so happens the best way to do this is to do an anatomy scan! so I have an apt next week with a fetal medicine expert at the hospital to do our scan.. which means we get to find out if we are having a boy or a girl!
love always and forever mommy

9,132 days old

Yesterday was my 25th birthday!
Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! ...
Bee had to work but I had a wonderful time despite that.
I've come up with my list for the year.
Things I want to accomplish, things to be reminded of, and most of all things to live for!

1. Be grateful for all the things I have.
Instead of always wishing for the next thing, I want to consciously make an effort to be thankful for what I DO have. Even the small things!

2. Connect with the ones I love.
This one sounds easy, but how many times in our day to day lives do we REALLY make a connection with other people? I'm not talking about Facebook, Instagram, twitter, I'm not even really talking about over the phone, but lets face it. We don't all have the luxury of living close to the ones we love. I want to make an effort to send more hand written letters. To make cards, to invite friends over, I want to make an effort to spend more quality time with Brad, walks, cuddling, playing, even learning something from one another.
...phew that was a big one!

3. Be healthy for me.
I haven't been the skinny girl in years, probably almost 10 years. I don't necessarily want to change that, but I do want to make a big effort to be more healthy. Eating more fresh, less processed, choosing more heart healthy activities. QUITTING Smoking. Drinking more water and less crap.

4. Do things I want to do.
This one is big! I think that so often when we first get married we are constantly doing things for our spouse, things we think they want us to do, to be like. We forget they fell in love with US, with who we are! And I think it's important not to forget that! So this year I want to focus on doing more things for me.

5. Think about what I want.
This one sort of ties in with #4 but I want to elaborate, I need to do things for me and my life, not be worried what other people will think. I believe that a lot of the choices I make I make with how other people will react in my mind. That's not healthy. I need to make my choices based on what I need, what will help me enjoy life more and succeed!

6. Go on more dates with myself.
Does anyone else do this? Who cares of no one else wants to see that movie, so what if they don't like sushi, or burgers, or .... Ice cream (I'm kidding about that one who doesn't like ice cream?) I want to start just going and doing these things I want to do. If I want to go to the beach I'm going (that's the plus of living 15 minutes from the ocean you can go to the beach!) if I want to see twilight, or safe haven, or magic mike, or any of the movies that I really want to see I'm going to go to them! If I want to go to the zoo, or a museum I'm gonna go!

7. Practice makes perfect.
I want to read more, paint more, craft more, photograph more, sing more, dance more, be more.

I'm sure there's more that I want to add to this list, but for now I have plenty to do.

The motto for this year will be....
Carpe Diem

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
